Tron 3 update #1

I am doing some more research into the Tron 3 motion picture, and see if I will be able to dig our a little more information off of the web. I know a couple places I can go where some of the larger film studio employees seem to dump some of the information long before it becomes massively public. There is sometimes some bad information coming out, as scripts get constantly rewritten  even during the principal filming of a movie. So what I am going to publish in the blogs, is the most accurate, and up to date information I will be able to find…

This starts with the following video of Bruce Boxleitner, who played the title character Tron in the 1982 film, and Rinzler in the Tron Legacy film, rather the voice of Rinzler…

When asked if there is a planned 3rd film in the series he stated the following:

This is a large hint of things to come. I know of a website that tracked the Tron Legacy status, and posted a ton of viral information, and back stories that took place in the time frame between the 2 Tron film franchises. If you are a true fan of the series as I am, then check out the Flynn Lives site linked here:

Here is a link for you to read about the company Kevin Flynn ran, and son Sam Flynn is the major stock holder, thus the owner of the company. It gives more in site to the Tron experience. And no, the operating system they refer to is only fictitious… Sad as it is, sounds awesome…

Ok to the nitty gritty of what is available here are a couple posts from Movieweb.com:

Tron 3 still hasn’t been announced yet. It looks like Walt Disney Studios is waiting to see how the recently released Tron: Legacy Blu-ray and DVD do on the sales charts before fully committing to another sequel. But director Joseph Kosinski is already making plans for an Untitled Tron Legacy Sequel storyline.

The director says that early discussions have began regarding the idea of bringing Tron back to the multiplex for another helping of cash. Here is whatJoseph Kosinski had to say on the matter.

“We’re working on the story right now. Once we get a script we’re all really happy with, we’ll take it to the powers that be and see if we can go back to the grid. I think we will pick up with whereTron: Legacy left off with Quorra [Olivia Wilde] in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It’s that relationship between the two of them that’s the next step.”

Joseph Kosinski also went onto say that Dillinger’s son (an uncredited Cillian Murphy) may play a big role in the Untitled Tron Legacy Sequel as well.

“Dillinger [David Warner] was a really important part of the first film and felt like an easy way to continue that storyline and thread to have his son in the new movie. That way you have people ask those questions of what the Dillinger legacy is in the world of Tron. We didn’t want to ignore it completely and it leaves a really nice springboard for some intertwining development for the next film.”

It is not known at this time if Joseph Kosinski will direct Tron 3 should it get the greenlight from Disney. He sure hopes he gets the job, though.

“That’s my intent. We’re developing it now. It’s all about getting a script and story and making sure we can get the same team back together.”
The following also comes from Movieweb.com:

Someone that worked on the shoot for DVD/Blu-ray extras for Tron: Legacy has contacted Ain’t It Cool withthe news that the releases will contain three short clips that will serve as teasers for Tron 3.

  • “One includes Bruce Boxleitner (as Alan) and Dan Shor (as Ram). Turns out that “Ram” was apparently running the FLYNN LIVES campaign and he’s frantically destroying all of that data and files, as Alan confronts him. Dan apparently utters the line, “Why did Kevin give you the cool name” – which means to my way of thinking that after Flynn came out of the Grid, he sought out the human soul of Ram and befriended him and started calling him RAM – you know – some geek that wrote that Actuarial Program that helped people plan for the future. I sorta love that. And love that the kindness Flynn showed this lowly geek, apparently created a gung ho champion for the life and memory of Kevin Flynn.”
  • “Another has Quora showing up to ENCOM and getting acousted by the press because she’s riding Sam’s Ducati – and states that she just spoke with Kevin Flynn, yesterday!”
  • “The last scene that was shot in this mini-shoot involved text screens where you see the Father & Son… The Dillingers stating that everything is going as planned.”
Not to mention the following which is as large of news as another film itself is…
For release in the 2012 season, comes a new computer animated television series called:

Tron Uprising

Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friendsfrom the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.

I hope this is as informative to you, as it was, and is to me… Maybe I have just turned a few more “Users” into “Programs”…

Peace

Lance
